What started out as a hobby with a Pentax K1000 and a night course at Camosun College, would evolve to managing one of Vancouver's largest sports photography companies.
The night course at Camosun Colleg was most informative but the real learning took place after hours at the local pub with guest photographers. It seems that the more one contributed to the cause the more one would learn and learning from the Pro's is what its all about.
So fast forward some 8 years, all the while fine tuning my craft as a photographer and finding what field of photography I wanted to pursue. I would settle on the action of sports and my days with Triple AAA Sports Photography, although challenging, would raise my skills to the next level. I covered many aspects of sports photography such as hockey, baseball, soccer and most major sporting events in Vancouver, The Lower Mainland and British Columbia.
I eventually worked my way into management and continued to shoot the action in the field before realizing that I was burning my candle at both ends. This is not a good thing even for a then young man. It was time to take a step back from the action.
Now don't get me wrong, it's always fun covering the action but when your shooting the action and managing a multi-million dollar store, life gets a little thin. In fact, I took such a colossal step back that I put my cameras away for several years.
I am happy to say that my return to photography, this time around, is quite pleasant.Laid back subjects are the order of the day and if I want some real action, I can always bring out my press credentials and go play.
So that in a nutshell is my background into photography and although I am working on a few projects, I have no intentions of burning my candle at both ends again.

Cheers.......Eric G
